Women in Science

The 23rd Annual Women in Science Conference will be held on East Campus and the Embassy Suites in Lincoln, Nebraska. Sponsored by Nebraska EPSCoR, the NebraskaSCIENCE Program of Excellence, and the Center for Science, Mathematics and Computer Education, this two-day event brings high school students from across Nebraska and the Midwest region together to explore interests in science careers. Women in Science is for students who want to interact with career and academic professional women in science, meet current undergraduate science students and other high school students who are interested in science, and discover countless professions as diverse as biologists, geologists, engineers, food scientists, computer scientists, and those in the medical fields.

Sunday with the Scientist

Sunday with a Scientist is a series of presentations that highlight the work of scientists, while educating children and families on a variety of topics related to science and natural history. Presenters share scientific information in a fun, informal way through demonstrations, activities or by conducting science on site. Sunday with a Scientist typically takes place from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. on the third Sunday of each month at University of Nebraska State Museum of Nebraska History (Morrill Hall).

Young Nebraska Scientists High School Camp

The Young Nebraska Scientists (YNS) program was founded in 2008 to provide exciting STEM enrichment activities for middle and high school students. YNS summer science camps at Nebraska colleges and universities integrate the research themes of current Nebraska EPSCoR grants. YNS also sponsors summer research internships in university laboratories for high school students.

Fascination of Plants

Fascination of Plants is coordinated by University of Nebraska-Lincoln Center for Plant Innovation and the Department of Agronomy and Horticulture. The goal of Fascination of Plants Day is to get as many people in our community enthused about the importance of plant science to our world. These events are held at City and East Campuses for the General Public and Invited High School Students. Hands-on science research, tours and giveaways are key activities for the event held every two years.
